Is boudoir right for me and who does them?!
I get this question a lot from people so let me dive deeper into the subject. Boudoir is truly for everyone. Yup everyone. One doesn’t need to be a model to have a boudoir session. For me personally, most of my clients are the girl next door, your neighbor, a mother, a sister, even a grandmother. Why? Because who doesn’t love to pamper and to spoil themselves? Boudoir is meant to embrace who we are(usually womxn) at any stage in life, any shape, size, there is no exception to the rule. Boudoir is more than just “sexy photos in lingerie” it’s meant to allow the person in front of the camera to embrace their unique beauty and style and aid in falling in love with themselves. We all know loving ourselves is important and this is just one way to do it. And if you already do love where you were and where you are, that’s awesome and such an accomplishment! People also do them to celebrate overcoming challenges they have faced.
When I ask each of my clients or potential clients why they’d want to do a boudoir photoshoot these are the top reasons.
- I’ve always wanted to do one and just feel beautiful. I’m not really feminine and I’d like to feel really sexy, but in a tasteful manner.
- It’s more for me, but I’m giving this as a gift for my fiancé, partner, girl/boyfriend, husband, wife.
- Anniversary/wedding day gift.
- I feel confident enough to embrace myself.
- I want to feel confident and see what other people see and I feel really comfortable with you doing that.
So you see, boudoir is for everyone. Even I step in front of the camera and embrace all my tiny imperfections after having two kids. Having a boudoir session can actually boost one’s confidence and everyone like’s a good boost here and there. I know I do! When it comes down to it, sometimes we need more than just told we are beautiful, we need to be SHOWN we are beautiful and that is what I do.
